RAD – Rotherham African Drums

We take the classic world instrument, the djembe, and makes it accessible for everyone. The simplicity of this lovely, portable instrument and the satisfaction of the sounds you can make with it means that anyone can enjoy playing!

As a result we have a huge range of people involved with RAD. We have a group for adults with learning and other disabilities, we run two community groups for all ages and abilities and we also have an advanced group who are developing practice to a higher level.

Bollywood Dancing

During lockdown there was a competition for professionals working in care homes to showcase how they have been entertaining service users and keeping them upbeat. Jubilee house in Barnsley is a service for people with learning disabilities and communication impairments. We decided to enter the competition with a Bollywood performance, the professional were all taught a performance which was videoed and uploaded on tik tok. This performance was also voted the best and won the competition from all the Elysium sites.

Hope you all enjoy the performance and please join in.
